Laura Elena Salon and Spa opened it's doors on June 28, 2011 in a small converted house in Old Town Cedar Hill. Owners, Shari Barnes and Jennifer Reynolds began their careers under the mentorship of Laura Castro at Worx Salon 15 years previous. Laura's commitment to faith, friendships and community was unparalleled and evident to everyone she met. She also had a passion for beauty, not only external but the beauty in the heart. She believed her business was a vessel to pour into someones life internally as well as externally. She considered it a privilege to touch the customers in her chair and would many times be found giving wise counsel, prayer or a listening ear. She viewed employee relationships no different. In December 2010, our Laura lost a long battle with cancer but won her eternal victory in Heaven. Her absence in the community was painfully felt by all who knew and loved her. It was this void that spurred Shari and Jennifer to take action and the ideas of opening a salon baring her name began to take shape. However, the ideas went beyond her name. The opportunity to carry on her spirit of the heart and helping people in need couldn't be passed up. Pouring into employees, customers and the community as a whole had to continue.
The small location was doing great and their seemed to be healing taking place slowly but surely. Both Shari and Jennifer were happy and content with this undertaking but God had other plans! On January 2, 2014, Laura Elena Salon and Spa moved into the former Worx Salon location in Hillside Village! Talk about full circle! It's an honor to be in this beautiful location that she designed herself and to be able to come back to put HER name on the building is beyond comprehension. We want to say a huge thank you to Hillside Village, the City of Cedar Hill and Brandon Hensley of Tangerine Salon for this amazing opportunity. And of course the community as a whole for embracing us as you did Laura, we love you! We hope you take the time to watch our video below and come by to see us. We would love to hear any special memory or story of Laura that you want to share.
God Bless, Shari & Jen
